Beth Benedetto has been studying the Irish language and sean-nós
(old-style) singing since 1995. She has furthered her studies in
Ireland with Nóirín ní Riain, Lillis Ó Laoire, Karan Casey, Antaine Ó
Faracháin and Máirín Uí Chéide (sean-nós), and at Oideas Gael and
Coláiste Isliomán (Irish). She won first in ladies’ sean-nós singing
at the Mid-Atlantic fleadh cheoil in New York in 2002 and second in
2003, and first in newly-composed songs in Irish both years

FIDDLE & MUSIC CAMP 2009, AUGUST 14-16

A weekend for playing
and socializing with fellow fiddle (and non-fiddle) students. Nightly
sessions and Ceili dance! The camp starts Friday evening on the 14th
of August and ends that following Sunday the 16th. All ages and
levels welcome.
Fiddle with Alex Caton.
Learn new tunes, phrasing, how to perform Irish and Old Time fiddle
tunes. Fiddle also taught by Scott Nelson, a veteran of Old-Time
music. Irish Step and Set Dancing with Lori Madden. Ben and/or his
dad, Scott Nelson teach Clawhammer-Style Banjo. Phil Audibert teaches
Irish style DADGAD as well as Standard guitar and voice. See teacher
biographies below.
New this year - More Sunday classes offered for those who prefer not
to take four classes in one day ~ More singing! Especially with a
Sunday Morning Sing-a-long ~ More Opportunities to Dance~ A Friday
night Teacher performance.
Classes/ Lessons will include:

Cost: $150 for four classes or $135 if registered and paid before May
1st
Please send a check (made out to Mountain Road Fiddle Camp) to Alex
Caton,120 Pine Crest Lane, Gordonsville, VA 22942.Family members of
registered students can take individual classes at the rate of $40 per
class. Registered students can also add classes to their required
number, at the rate of $40 per class.
Due to fewer Banjo class options, banjo students registration fee is
$115 for three class (or $105 if registered and paid before May 1st).
Registration fee is $115 for students age 12 and under taking only the
three required Ensemble classes (or $105 if registered and paid before
May 1st).
Weekly Charlottesville
Session at Durty Nelly's on Sundays from 4:30-7:00pm. Bring your instrument
or just come to listen and don't forget to tip your server!
BRIMS' Spring semester
of classes is underway, and new 6 week mini-classes in song,
Irish language, tenor banjo and dance are being offered starting
March 10. Please see the programs and classes link for details.
