BRIMS Ireland Study Trip

BRIMS' has sponsored five study trips to Ireland since its inception, the latest in June, 2018.  Everyone is welcome to participate; you don't need to be a BRIMS student or member to come on this trip!

Trips are run (depending on interest) every other year, the next tentatively scheduled for June/July of 2020.

Trip price includes:  airfare, on-ground transportation (we hire buses, so nobody needs to drive!), food, accommodations (in hostels; the hostels in Ireland are very nice!), classes in music, singing, dance and more.  This is just to give you an idea of all we offer and include for a reasonable price.

In addition to classes in music and dance we also visited with renowned Irish storyteller Eddie Lenihan, visited Cnoc Suain, a cultural center in the countryside of Spiddal and had sketching classes in Ennis.

Classes for accompanying family members (note:  we do not prorate trip prices for accompanying family members/friends, but we do make sure there are plenty of activities and offerings for them!):

  • Singing
  • Beginner tin whistle
  • Social dance
  • Story telling
  • Irish language

Classes in Ireland will include (but won't be limited to):

  • Music (in all instruments that are played by those on the trip)
  • Dance:  Step dance, sean nos, social (sets & ceili)
  • Singing
  • Storytelling
  • Irish language

The BRIMS trip to Ireland was the best trip of my life. The classes we took were informative and very fun (even for *extreme* beginners…!), and the other (rather more advanced) dancers and musicians with us were very knowledgeable and accommodating. The trip outside of classes were also just incredibly fun & enjoyable.

Every place has its own unique beauty. It seems to be that the atmosphere in Ireland has this wonderful happiness and mystery. The classes were also really wonderful. Specifically the dancing was really enjoyable for me.

This was a joyous trip. I loved the beautiful scenery, the sweet comaraderie, the laughter in the kitchen over dishes and the breathy joy of group dances. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
